Ask me anything
1. Printed flyers to advertise my gig at Design Does.
2. Put them up in Terra, Blick, and Tequila Sunrise Records.
3. Got a lot of good feedback from Anthony Vogdes (owner, Tequila Sunrise Records), specifically related to printmaking and creating a series of vinyl releases that relate to each other over the lifetime of the label. All the records he puts out on TSR follow a cohesive design scheme, regardless of the artist. It’s something an artist who signs to the label has to be comfortable with, and I think it’s good design and good business. It was a really good talk and we also got to reminisce about the golden era of skateboarding and he hipped me to the Vienna Aktionists (fair warning: this link contains potentially offensive material).
4. Record Store Day is tomorrow. This is the kind of crass commercialism that I despise. Everyday is record store day for me. I don’t go out to shop records once a year just to get some over-priced Blur single to display on the sideboard next to my fine china and Japanese fans. I hate this kind of crap.
5. Did some final tweaking to the laser-cutter files for my jackets. Instead of laser-scoring the spine, it will be scored by hand. This will make it look more professional, but adhere to the independent values of Waxfarmer Recordings. Also picked up a couple new colors of railstock to play with.
6. I got someone else’s dubplate in the mail today. Pretty good tunes, but they’re not mine, so I need to sort that out with the cutter. But hey, free dubplate! (These are just dubplates, not my vinyl tests. DO NOT PANIC.)
